Attracting hostel owners and managers from around the world, Hostelworld.com's sixth annual Hostel Conference & Awards took place in Dublin, Ireland on January 25th - 26th, 2010. This year's conference looked at the future of travel and what changes are driving the travel industry. With over 4 billion mobile handsets in use across the world they are now an integral tool for the travel marketplace. We shared mobile trends, statistics and tips on how to market your hostel to backpackers on the small screen. We also looked in more detail at how you can use Twitter and Facebook to help boost your bottom line profits. And, as always, there was lots of meetings and networking with the Hostelworld.com Team and fellow hostel owners and managers.

8th Annual Hoscar Awards
Recognising the best hostels of 2009, the eighth annual Hostelworld.com Awards Ceremony took place in Dublin in conjunction with the Hostelworld conference. Based on reviews made by Hostelworld.com customers after staying in hostels, the average individual ratings awarded in 2009 combine to give the HOStelworld Customers Annual Ratings or HOSCARs! The awards were presented on Monday January 25th to hostel owners from all over the world in different categories.
