Her current role gives her overall responsibility for the marketing strategy for all the company’s brands in the hostel and hotel sectors. This includes responsibility for overall global strategy for search marketing, advertising, research and analytics, branding, affiliate programs, online promotions, eCRM and PR.

Carmel Dunne |
Hostel Relations Manager
Carmel has worked in the hostel industry for 10 years. While traveling around the world she worked in hostels in Greece, Israel and Australia before returning to Ireland in 1999 where she worked for Avalon House hostel in Dublin. The travel bug bit again a few years later and she set off backpacking around India and Sri Lanka. On her return she joined Hostelworld.com as one of the first employees. Carmel originally worked as a buddy and currently manages the operations of the hostels division in her role as Global Hostel Relations Manager. Carmel represents the company at all major international trade fairs and exhibitions including WYSTC, TNT, ITB, and WTM.

Gillian has worked in the hostel industry for 8 years from Dublin to Sydney and back again in a variety of roles from reception to management. In early 2006 she started in Hostelworld.com. In her role supporting Backpack Online, Gillian liaises with hostels continuously enabling maximum use and ease of operation. She works very closely with the development team ensuring Backpack Online is fully functional and practical for hostels.

Colm is Hostelworld.com Editor and has written for the company for more than five years. He writes the online guides, free pocket guides and he presents the podcasts also. He recently returned from an 80-day trip around the world where he visited destinations such as San Francisco, Sydney, Beijing and Tokyo. His podcasts from these destinations earned him the ‘Best Podcaster’ award at 2007’s Net Visionary Awards. Along with managing the content on the site, he is actively involved in the company's PR campaigns.
